How the truck profit calculator works

Enter the rate you’ve been offered, the loaded and empty kilometres, and your running costs. TruckProfit removes GST, costs your fuel at your real litres per 100 km, adds tolls, tyres, servicing, finance and insurance, then shows take-home profit, margin, profit per hour and cost per kilometre — so you can accept, negotiate or walk away on facts.

Owner-driver questions, answered

How do I calculate profit on a truck load?

Start with the rate, remove the GST component, then subtract fuel for both loaded and empty kilometres, tolls, tyres, servicing, finance, insurance and a wage for your own time. What's left is your real profit. This truck profit calculator does all of it in about 30 seconds.

What should an owner driver charge per kilometre in Australia?

Enough to clear your own cost per kilometre with margin on top. Most single-truck semi operators need roughly $1.90 to $2.80 per kilometre once every running cost and a driver wage are included. Use the owner driver rates calculator to work out your specific number.

Does the calculator include empty kilometres?

Yes. Empty and repositioning kilometres are entered separately and costed at your real fuel burn, because deadhead running is one of the biggest hidden drains on owner-driver profit.

Is GST included in the profit figure?

GST is separated out, so the profit shown is what actually stays in the business after BAS rather than a number that shrinks at quarter's end.

Is the truck profit calculator free?

Yes — free forever, with no credit card. Saved calculations and basic profit reports are included; AI load analysis is on the Professional plan.
